The Hon. Gar Knutson, P.C., LL.B., MBA is the Principal at Knutson Law Professional Corp.

Gar spent 14 years with Bordner, Ladner, Gervais LLP in Ottawa, practising in the area of government relations and diplomatic relations until establishing Knutson Law Professional Corp. in 2019.

Prior to joining BLG, Gar was a Cabinet Minister with the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa, under both the Martin and Chretien cabinets.  Gar’s expertise was in government relations, diplomatic relations, international affairs and international trade, dealing with Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and emerging markets such as China, India and Brazil.  

Hon. Gar Knutson has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University and an LL.B. from University of Windsor. Before receiving early acceptance to law school at the University of Windsor, Gar studied Economics and Philosophy at the University of Toronto.

Hon. Gar Knutson is the Chairman of the Canadian Turkish Business Council. 

Gar is a member of the Ontario Bar Association. 

Gar lives in Ottawa, Ontario and has three adult children, William, Clare and Michael.
